Public Sculpture Donation Collectors, Minuteman Missile National Historic Site
< Previous Next >

Minuteman Missile National Historic Site is one of the newest units of the National Park Service. It was established in 1999 to illustrate the history and significance of the Cold War, the arms race, and intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) development. The National Historic Site preserves one of the last remaining Minuteman II ICBM systems in the United States.

Minuteman Missile Site’s staff selected Bunting Graphics to design and fabricate custom collection boxes in the shape of missiles.  Bunting’s creative staff developed the general appearance of the missiles and further detailed each component for fabrication.  The aluminum missiles were fabricated from minimum 25% recycled content aluminum and finished with a collaborative effort among several departments within the company. Each missile features a door panel with a double lock revealing the interior removable collection box.

Donation slots on each missile accept coins and bills.

Creative looking donation boxes entice visitors to come closer and donate a dollar or two.

Contributions are easily collected by park staff in a round carrier that sits inside a double locked door.
